A letdown

This seemed like a rather lazy effort to me. Over 80 percent of it was a rehash of scenes from previous episodes. It was nice to see Rob finish his book, though.

Weak

A clip show with about 5 minutes of original material, there's nothing memorable or good about the series finale. It's a lazy effort. Clips from 3 of the best episodes are played, but since this is the last episode ever, you wish the writers would have done more to say goodbye to the characters and the audience. In particular, a complete original episode would really have been appreciated. The final scene tries to be clever and meta but falls flat, as you almost have to be an insider to get the references and jokes. It's sad that the producers made the final episode for themselves and not for the audience.

It's a clip show...too bad.

Considering that "The Dick Van Dyke Show" was excellent, it's sad it ended with a clip show. Sure, there were a lot of funny clips they could include, but a new story or something tying everything together without clips would have been nicer, in my opinion.

As for the clips, they are from various flashback episodes...such as Rob and Laura's wedding (both the abortive first one and the one where Rob is sick), the birth of Ritchie, etcetera.

Overall, a lazy and cheap way to fill an episode. I really wanted something memorable to make the show feel more complete than the idea of Rob putting these stories into a book he finally completed.
