Very funny

One of the funniest Dick Van Dyke shows I have ever seen. Denver Pyle was a funny masterpiece. As an older man he acted like a spoiled teenager trying to get his way with Sally. All of the Petrie family and Buddy and Sally just couldn't figure out how to handle the situation.

Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) just wanted to help his uncle find a woman to be his bride. Rob thought that a friend's mother would be a perfect choice. BUT that didn't work out so well. The Petrie's had invited friends to dinner at their house where they would introduce Rob's uncle to the mother of his friend. But when he saw Sally he went out of control.

It's just an okay episode.

Rob's Uncle George (Denver Pyle) is staying with the Petries. George has an unusual request...that Rob find him a date. Now, considering George's age and brash temperament, this is no small order. When Rob talks about it to Buddy and Sally, they come up with an idea...hook him up with Herman Glimscher's mother. She is single...and it will also keep the mother from accompanying Herman and Sally on all their dates!

This episode is the epitome of 'okay'. It's not a bad or offensive episode but it's also not funny and Denver Pyle's routine is way over the top. His sort of persona seemed more appropriate when he played the patriarch of the Darling family on "The Andy Griffith Show"...but here it just seemed out of place.

Cringeworthy

Uncle George is way too over the top. It's not funny to watch an older man behave like a two-year old, it's just embarrassing. I don't understand why no one in this show can ever be straight-forward and honest about anything. They all just stand around looking stupid and make up elaborate stories instead of just telling people the truth. No one in this show has a backbone, they're all just simpering wimps. It's funny for a while but they really overdo it.

That is the end of my review. Short rant: the 600 character minimum requirement is ridiculous. 200 to 300 at the most should be plenty; 600 is excessive.

In agreement with cringe worthy

I'm in total agreement with the comments posted under CRINGEWORTHY episode. Pyle as the old man was a disgusting character, how he overly fawned over Sally, could be considered as totally inappropriate. I know this show/episode was aired during a different era but this episode was poorly written. The elderly uncle shows up at His nephews house, Rob Petrie, with all guns a blazing, announcing that he wants a woman and Rob is to find him one, Like he was ordering an ice cream flavour. Wth? How demeaning this is to women in general? No regard to wanting to find someone he loves or has respect for...no just "find him a woman". Even typing this make me cringe.
