- After helping to repair the warp drive on board of a Xyrillian ship, Trip notices a strange bulging on his arm.
- Enterprise is encountering all different kinds of minor malfunctions. When the crew find out the problem lies with the plasma exhaust, they discover they have a stowaway. The Xyrillians have a problem with their warp drive and by using Enterprise' warp drive they tried to recharge their teraphasic coils. Trip is sent to help fix their engine and meets up with Ah'len, one of their engineers. The two seem to be getting along very well. Trip is able to make repairs, but shortly after the Xyrillians left, he notices a strange bulging on his arm.—Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)
- While in deep space, the Enterprise has different technical problems affecting inclusive the gravitational system. Commander Trip and his men believe the reason is the plasma exhaust, and they decide to drop out the warp to explode the residue. While watching the tape of the explosion, Captain Archer identifies an alien spaceship with a stealth device and contacts the captain, asking them to drop the camouflage. The Xyrillian Captain Trena'L explains that they has a problem with their warp drive and are using the plasma released by Enterprise to recharge their system. Trip is invited to spend three days in the alien ship repairing the propulsion system. After a tough adaptation process to the environment of the Xyrillians, Trip works with the engineer Ah'len, who helps him to fix the problem. While waiting for the recharge of the coils, Ah'len shows the landscapes of her planet in a state-of-art alien holographic chamber, and they play a guess game using a box of pebbles. When Trip returns to Enterprise, he is submitted to physical examinations, and Dr. Phlox finds a nipple in his arm. After a further examination, Trip is informed that he had had a sexual encounter in the Xyrillian spaceship, and he is pregnant, developing a life form in his body.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- In Engineering deck, Commander Tucker is trying to solve ship-wide problems with power supply and life support. The plasma flow from the ship's exhaust is disrupted that is messing up half the ship's systems. Sub-Commander T'Pol discovers an optical distortion in the wake of Enterprise. Captain Archer ignites the plasma, revealing a cloaked ship. He hails the vessel and a Xyrillian, Captain Trena'l (Randy Oglesby) explains that they have been tapping Enterprise's exhaust to recharge their engines. Archer offers assistance to the ship. Tucker is to visit for three days (there is a 3 hr decompression process each way, so Archer decides that its better he stays till the job is done), and he is given injections by Doctor Phlox so his body can adapt to the alien environment.
Tucker feels woozy coming out of the decompression chamber on the alien ship, but refuses to rest. He wants to go back, but Archer speaks to Trena'L and orders Tucker to rest for an hour before deciding.
Once he is feeling fine again, Tucker meets Ah'Len (Julianne Christie), the Xyrillian engineer. They become ever more friendly while repairing the ship. Ah'Len takes him to a holo-deck to show him Thera, the Xyrillian home world. During the tour (on a simulated rowing boat), Ah'Len engages in a seemingly innocent game that allows them to share their thoughts and desires. When the repairs are completed and Tucker returns, he notices a strange growth on his wrist (It turns out to be a new nipple). He visits Phlox, who tells him that he is pregnant (though Phlox also states no genetic material is taken from the male involved). Tucker mentions the telepathic game and Phlox says that it might be the transfer medium for the alien fetus. Later, as the embryo grows, Archer asks T'Pol to locate the Xyrillian ship. Meanwhile Tucker gets more and more irritable and has mood swings.
As T'pol has trouble locating the ship, Tucker gets bigger. Phlox starts discussing Tucker's post-natal responsibilities with him.
They discover it hiding in a Klingon warship's plasma wake. Archer hails Captain Vorok (Christopher Darga), and helps them to detect the Xyrillian ship. Vorok is angry, and wants to destroy the ship, but T'Pol reminds him that Archer was the one who found Klaang and saved Qo'NoS from civil war, and that the Chancellor himself called him "brother" in the Klingon High Council. Archer offers him the holo-deck technology on-board the Xyrillian ship in exchange for their cooperation. Tucker goes to the Xyrillian ship, and Ah'Len notes the embryo is young enough to be safely transplanted. She apologizes to him, informing him she was not aware pregnancy was even possible with another species. Vorok ends the encounter after securing the Xyrillian's holo-deck technology, but warns Archer against a future meeting saying that with this meeting the Klingon debt to Archer is repaid and that they have no interest in meeting him or humans again. T'Pol later informs Tucker that his was "the first recorded instance of a human male pregnancy".
