Frightening because such cases do occur

"The Savage Wilderness" is a very good and harrowing episode of "The F. B. I.". It shows a rather realistic case involving 'erotomania'...a term coined by psychotherapists in recent years to describe mentally disturbed people who imagine that they are in love with someone they barely even know. Such individuals think that they can somehow convince another person to fall in love with them and they might try kidnapping or threatening or other such actions to get that person to love them. Sadly, such individuals are very difficult to treat...and the fixation can lasts years or decades

When the story begins, Emily and her boyfriend are at the beach having a nice day. Suddenly, the boyfriend is attacked from behind and the massive Walker Oborn quickly knocks the young man out and takes the girl! He never explains what he's doing or why...he just drags her for many miles into the wilderness and then 'she'll understand'....in other words, fall in love with Walker and want to spend the rest of her life with him....or so his delusion dictates. Can the FBI catch up to him and free the young lady?

This is a very good episode because it's unusual. At first, I thought it was yet another traditional kidnapping case but Walker's obsession made it quite different. Very good acting, particularly by Darlene Carr as Emily...and well worth seeing.
