My Spidey Senses were right

Warning: Spoilers
This was an interesting episode, with fun and familiar faces . I must comment on the Brother/Sister story. From the moment they emerged on the screen, there appeared to be an inappropriate relationship which continued throughout the episode. Too much touching, lengthy embraces and loving gazes which should never be exchanged between siblings. All was explained in the end, but it really was a distraction from the plot line. Even with the explanation, it was still creepy. The Georgia Engel story was rather boring as she basically played Georgette Baxter on vacation, but the actors were familiar and fun to watch. As always, Tattoo is a bit childish and annoying. At least he didn't have a story line.

not the best but okay
mikeholmes-480126 September 2015
This is my first review, i have been watching DVR'ed Fantasy Island for a few months now. Beer is always involved. I prefer Bud lite swill. anyhow, this was an okay episode. Some items of interest i noted in this one is the brother and sister investigating there fathers murder was totally predictable. But i loved the atmosphere of the house. I even got a home decorating tip from watching . there was a statue that was covered in a dust sheet like most of the stuff. It's arm was sticking out that was holding a candle and base. but if you looked at it, it looked like it was a fore arm coming out of the wall holding a candle. nice decoration idea. It had some cheesy special effects but i watched an episode last night with robot men malfuntioning or the 2 or 3 i saw with werewolfs and it just lacked that extra effort. the other story arc had that lady what i swear is the mother in Gremlins 2 (something i watcehd right before this , what a great movie) but that wasn't that great. Of the 3 men she went for, i found the writer most interesting cause he said what writers are, persons that sit on the outskirts looking at people nad not getting involved. very deep very true. so that said, i have a Instagram account for my NHL Hockey cartoons but it ended up being pictures and videos of fantasy islands i watch along with other pointless stuff. my videos of choice for this episode was the girl finding the flower and the blood on her hands and appearing body and me pointing out the new driver for the car that drops everyone off. In the old episodes it is some hairy white guy who pulls away immediately the second people get out fo the car. this new guy stays there and i made sure i filmed my finger pointing a hte bumper that was still showing sitting there due to poor camera guys. so there you go, my review. compliments of Bud lite. my goal is to get every episode, but watching one, looking up on wikipedia who is dead and not , and doing this makes every episode a 2-3 hour endeavor. (i'd love it if Wiki had the episodes listed os i could do it quicker, i have to go to IDM and then copy paste names to wiki)

Who the thunder thought this was an ok story to write? Stephen Shortbridge is wasted here!
imdb-2528810 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So I'm almost to mid show, and I'm giving this a very enthusiastic 9/10. Oh yeah! I've been a fan of Stephen Shortbridge for a while now, so I was very happy when I read his name. And there disenbarks Georgia Engel, she of the unusual high pitched voice, but who, time and again, turns in lovely performances on F. I. (So happy it wasn't the annoying Carol Lynley, for a change!!!)

The show starts, and I'm unable to pick a favorite story... at first. I kept being disappointed with Stephen's story. So I focus on Georgia's: they keep changing her hair and makeup, and she looks so stunning with black hair and dark red lipstick. Alright, this is fun. She's just so lovely and her acting personality is ever so pleasant. (Always the same, but so do most actors play the same character when guest starring here!) I am liking bachelor #1 for her. He is so professional and respectful of her.

Back to the mansion horror story. So I'm noticing the lack of mood set up, here. There aren't any good establishing shots of the full moon, nor thunder and lightening. The worst part of this story was the dark haired actress. She's supposed to play some sort of a spook, but she was cringe and unable to act. Not to mention, homely. Just a terrible actress. Richard Anderson was wasted. Not only because he had very little to do, but because his character is an idiot: he laughs when the plain Jane with the black hair tells him she loves him? He literally scoffs at her; ok, she's no looker but dude! Control yourself, that's rude! But then he's all like "I love you too" after she shoots him?! OMG!!! Ratings plummeting fast for this.

But that's not the worst part of it! So I'm really REALLY trying to get into the other story. I mean... did I mention the very handsome Stephen Shortbridge here? But why do I find him so boring? My mind drifts to his costar: she's lovely but the terrible Farrah Fawcett knock off hairstyle looks like a helmet on her. I notice how cute they are together and what a pity the writers couldn't have made her his girlfriend, instead of his sister. (What a waste! Riiight?)

So he and his sister are now sitting by the fire and he is smiling, at her. Wait is he flirting with her?? Oh, Stephen!! What are you doing, you're on camera, here! And she acts all shy, casting her glances down, while unable to conceal her smiles. What the what?? Wait! I know him to be a very good actor, I'm watching his character, not him! My bad. So what's going on here? Hello! So I have one of these remotes that lets you rewind the TV. Did Mr Roarke say they were brother and sister?? My C. C. ain't working for this show any longer. So, I spent my time rewinding it all the way to de plane! De plane! Yep: siblings. What the what?!?! What's going on here?

Back to Georgia: so her dates don't pan out. Why? Why doesn't she like #1? He's handsome and he's into her. (I didn't grasp that part!) #2 turns out to be a creeper (LOVED it when Mr. Roarke butts in, to get her off the hook! Watch this if just for that scene!!!) and #3 is a complete jerk to her. I'm done with this fantasy. Poor Georgia! So is she. (I mean her character!!) She deserved better. Oh, look! She's great as a phone operator. She's so sweet..!

Back to the mansion. The set decor is terrible, there goes that black haired actress and what a terrible choice of a person for this part. So miscast. She has no mood, no direction, terrible acting, unflattering gray dress. Still, this is the horror segment and it has Mr. Shortbridge. I should be loving this... yet I'm not! :( The decor is bad, there's no heavy stone walls like in previous "castle/horror" fantasies, no cobwebs, no candelabras, no dark red curtains, no fireplace close ups, no nothing to set the tone (as opposed to many previous horror segments of this series.) If only Katharyn Michaelian Powers or D. C. Fontana had written this episode! *Sighs* They knew how to do this, back then.

Long story already way too long, turns out they weren't siblings after all, so they go on to start a love relationship. Are you kidding me right now?! That's still so inappropriate! They lived as brother and sister since they were tiny kids!! (This cast my mind back to where I landed on an innocent webpage where the comments had taken a "WTH" turn and people were posting about having relations with their brothers & sisters! Yeah! And even worse, but I'll spare you! Let's just say I was the odd one out and it felt like the Twilight Zone! FFWD to 2023, and this is right around the corner folks!)

In conclusion, I blame the writers. The brother and sister team did play their parts appropriately for such an inappropriate story angle. They aren't at fault, and they did make a great couple. Solid actors, both of them. Pity that it wasn't a romance from the start and they met and fell in love then, but whatever! The "sister" actress, was just in and out lovely.

In conclusion, I did prefer Georgia's story, even if the bozo she ended up with was homely and didn't deserve her. I did like that they brought back the intro gags, and this time was with Julie. She had more of a personality here. Watch her in the next season and she is so wooden, she downright turns into another bore.

One good, one mediocre
stones782 December 2014
I'll get the boring story out of the way first, and that starred the annoying Georgia Engel, with the same annoying voice as always, as a woman who wants to meet the 3 men she only knows over the telephone. Look for familiar faces in Frank Bonner, who was equally annoying, Frank Converse, and David Groh, who actually gave the only credible performance in this barely average segment. The much better story has a brother and sister(Stephen Shortridge, Dianne Kay)looking to find out how their father died; he was played by the great Richard Anderson. I don't know much about Elinor Donahue, but she gave the best performance overall, as she was both creepy and sympathetic, and really stood out. This segment had a creepy mansion, the kind you'd see on Night Gallery, and some creepy unseen, heavy breathing adding to the atmosphere. Another interesting tidbit has Tattoo getting a scene or 2, and if you've been following along, you should notice that he's been absent for a few episodes, and Julie has taken his place, although she's only in the beginning of this episode, which is a good thing.

Um...

Warning: Spoilers
Not one of the best "Fantasy Island's" but it wasn't as horrible as some. The storyline with Georgette was somewhat painful, but not so much that I skipped through it. The part that weirded me out the most was the "brother and sister" segment. As someone else already mentioned, their relationship was super creepy even before the truth came out that they weren't really related. He says, "he's always loved her" at the end when they find out they're not related which is super gross seeing how they believed all their lives they were sibling. Doesn't matter if they're really not blood related. You wouldn't start a romantic relationship with a nonbiological sibling any more than you would with someone you grew up with believing they were your blood relative. Very cringe-worthy, though I too agree Elinor Donahue gave a wonderful performance.
