I must be funny!
mitchrmp13 April 2014
And here we go again! Seems we've been down a similar road like this before. And I believe we'll go down it again. After watching an old college video, Joey learns his ten years to get high in the comedy world is almost up. He decides to be funny all the time, which naturally drives his family batty!

So Danny sends in an application to get Joey on Star Search. He does, but unless he wins his comedy career is over. Now, I don't want to spoil anything, so I can't say too much about the outcome. Personally, I didn't think either of the contestants were deserving of such honors. I've seen Joey be a lot funnier...

Becky is interestingly missing from the last several episodes. I don't like it. The shows so much better with her and Jessie! Michelle has an awkward scene of laughing a lot at something Joey said that really wasn't that funny. Then later when he says something really funny, she doesn't even laugh. That struck me as very odd...

So close to 7

Warning: Spoilers
I'm getting close to the episodes that are 7 but Star search is just a little short I like the setting and the Ed McMahon guest star but this is another where Joey should get a big break but then in the end it falls down for him. There is a lot of these episodes I feel like for some reason and they just aren't memorable episodes. It also wasn't a super funny episode but it was decent, just not a great episode overall.

Follow Your Dreams.

Warning: Spoilers
This Full House episode really means a lot to me because it is a 23 minute piece that resonates long after its watch. Very few single episodes of shows do that. Many Full House episodes do have that stay power, but almost none have anything that is life-firming or that can be lived upon. This is an exception.

Danny checks out an old videotape of when he and Joey were in college together. Ten years later, Danny is now a successful talk-show host and Joey is in the same rut he was then. In college he made a deadline to be a huge comic within ten years. So for the next few days he is 100% comedy all the time. The Tanners are annoyed! Just as he wonders "What's the use?" Danny revealed he sent a tape of Joey to Star Search and will be a contestant. YAY! He competes against champion Steve Oedekirk, the real Steve! All the showbiz glamour from Star Search is wonderful. He loses via audience tie-breaker and is ready to move on from comedy. Then Jesse has a heart-to-heart that totally makes this. The phrasing Jesse uses had a profound impact on me. I sometimes use these word for word. He talks about happiness and not giving up even if he never makes it big. This reaffirms Joey's ambition in comedy.

I don't care if I'm the only one this really impacted, I'm still giving this a perfect score.
