Very funny.

Humphrey and Ethel are set to visit for dinner, Mildred has gone to great pains to get everything ready, only George hasn't paid the bill, and the electricity has been cut off. Geoffrey and family are off to visit his mother.

I think this one is very, very funny, a classic episode with some belly laugh moments.

It's always better when Humphrey and Ethel feature, and as always they do not disappoint, the pair are at their best here. Ethel is so condescending, she's savage.

Some wonderful, cutting one liners, the scenario is so funny, but the lines, brilliant. Mildred's embarrassment, bless her, and in front of Ethel.

'Not often you see a sparkling sherry.'

Worth remembering what was going on with energy at the time.

8/10.

The Unkindest Cut of All

Mildred's wealthier sister is due to come for dinner with her husband.

Mildred has plans to cook all posh. However George has neglected to pay the electricity bill and they have been cut off. He blames Lester Piggott for not winning in the races as he spent the money at the bookies.

Luckily for George, the Fourmiles have gone out to Jeffrey's cat obsessed mother. So George steals their electricity bu taking an extension plug.

I pity the poor director. When the electricity is cut, the studio lights are still on. It is only in the later evening scenes when the house is lit like its dark.

The gas/electric being cut was a standard staple in sitcoms back in the day. Probably harder to do these days when you are expected to pay by direct debit.
