Family Affair (#2.7)
ComedyFan201014 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Rose's daughter Bridget and Dorothy's son Michael come for a visit. They are both very different but Blanche decides to hook them up and gives them tickets for a symphony. They end up together in bed which really upsets their mothers and they have big fight with each other and Blanche.

Don't really get the story. Sure, moms treat their kids as children no matter what age they are, but this was a bit of an exaggeration I think. And the things they said about each other kids was kind of nasty for their personalities.

But the scene when they find them in bed was kind of funny. Especially Rose being upset that they are naked! Just as Sophia in her mourning dress.

The kids cause riots for the grown ups.

Rose's daughter Bridget turns up to stay, her visit coincides With a visit from Michael, Dorothy's son, Blanche inadvertently sets the two of them up.

Rose goes a little too far here, she's a bit rude to Dorothy, but it's shock, and naturally Dorothy retaliates, I think this is the first time that two of the regulars have had a bit of venom with one another, Blanche's innocent remarks were hilarious.

Dorothy does more or her death stares than ever before, and they are a joy.

Sophia's black mourning outfit was hilarious, she could have fitted easily into The Godfather Part 2 in that.

Ths first of three episodes for Michael, well acted by Scott Jacoby.

7/10.

Oh my gosh they're naked

Warning: Spoilers
It's the 80s and the kids are now parents and their kids and doing what they never did. Omigosh Dorothy's son and Rose's daughter had a night of passion and decided to do the horizontal bop in Dorothy's bedroom. Not the best place. The writers created the worst case scenario. You could almost predict the reaction. Yes a serious case of overreaction. Dorothy takes the lead because she's good at over reacting and Rose is so naive she's not sure what she sees looking at seeing her daughter in bed with Michael (Dorothy's son). Then we have Blanche trying her best calm things down and failing miserably. After the bedroom we have Dorothy and Rose exchanging insults as Dorothy accuses Roses' daughter (Bridget) of being a tramp. Rose counters with a comment that her daughter is to good for Dorothy's loser of a son. Ok ladies be nice.

This one night stand started with the kids going to a symphony courtesy of tickets given to them by Blanche. Blanche thought it would be nice for Michael and Bridget to have an enjoyable evening rather than visiting with the Golden ladies. Blanche expected the two to end the evening with some polite conversation then say goodnight. Noooo! My guess is an enjoyable conversation led to a kiss and more kissing and possibly some serious petting. Petting usually leads to passion and it's hard to settle down and return to polite conversation. But choosing your mom's bedroom is a bad choice. There may not have been any funds for a motel room. Oh well ... Overall a good episode.

When family becomes a bed ache

Warning: Spoilers
Rose's educated daughter (Marilyn Jones) and Dorothy's lazy musician son (Scott Jacoby) visit and end up doing more than just seeing the sights. Moralistic Rose is angry at Blanche for setting them up, and Dorothy and Sophia upset that Jacoby's Michael has such a flippant attitude about the whole situation. It's only fairly amusing with the usual number of wisecracks, with Michael not really likable enough to have been made a recurring character. Still, it gives a good example of the show's family histories but really creates no lasting impact overall.
