Not quite a classic, but good.

The girls have saved up $3000 for a certificate of deposit, Rose foolishly entrusts it to Sophia, foolishly she uses the money on something else, a Cuban prize fighter named Pepe, a man who happens to be a talented musician.

It's perhaps not the greatest episode from series four, but the bar is very high, and it's still a good, funny episode, it's definitely an original storyline.

Sophia's right about every fighter becoming an actor, it's a trend that carries on to this day, you only wish some of them hadn't. Seeing her operating as a boxing trainer, that wasn't expected.

Chick Vennera delivers a pretty wonderful performance as Pepe, initially he seems a little stereotypical, a bit one dimensional, but of course he's so much more.

6/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Sophia takes the money they put aside for certificate of deposit and instead buys a Hispanic fighter who can get them more money in the fight if he wins. Turns out he speaks English very well and not only that he also wants to apply to an academy as a violin player and an actor. They work together to get what they want.

A pretty amusing episode. I liked all characters and their actions. I especially loved how Dorothy was helping Pepe to practice fighting once she found out the win that comes with it.

His story is also pretty good and i liked how it all worked out and he got into the academy

The Golden Girls meet Golden Boy.

Warning: Spoilers
Don't ever give Sophia Petrillo money to invest. You might end up being the managers of a non-English speaking Cuban prizefighter who she purchases at a bus stop, giving the girls some nervous moments as worry about getting their money back. But Chuck Vennera, as Kid Pepe, is actually a trained violinist, determined to get into a professional arts school. The ladies are supportive of his ambitions and show their compassion in spite of stereotyping him.

It's obvious, even with a "Golden Boy" reference, that the writers utilized parts of the Clifford Odets play. It's funny and touching, with Sophia explaining how she knew Golda Meir and her husband Oscar with a funny reference. The final scene with the audition is weakly written and unrealistic, but there are other elements of the episode that are just fine.
