Not one of the best
Since it was still early in the series and the show was still finding it's footing, I can give this episode a pass. We thankfully only saw this hateful grandchild once throughout the series so the writers probably knew it wasn't a good idea to being him back again.
The scene with Dorothy and Sophia sharing the bed is the highlight of this episode for me. They start out bickering until sharing the bed makes Dorothy remember an old nightmare she used to have as a child and would ask to sleep with Sophia because she was scared.
It makes them quickly forget the bickering and enjoy the memory together. I love those mother/daughter scenes between Dorothy & Sophia. Both actresses played their parts so well, you really believed they were mother and daughter.
We're also treated to the first of Rose's unusual farm stories, this one about a one eyed pig, and a cow that had to sit on a stool rather than the milker due to it being involved in a horrible plow accident lol.
A recent reviewer here asks how Blanche can have a 14 year old grandson, and it's very easily plausible because she not in her early 50's. (though she may say she is!) Blanche is more late 50's and if I had to take a guess, i'd say she's 57. So if she had her daughter at 21, and her daughter had David at 22, that would make Blanche be 57 when her grandson is 14. So it's very plausible and believable.
I give this episode 5 stars for Rose's farm story, Dorothy & Sophia sharing the bedroom and Blanche for setting her daughter straight. And definitely for Sophia's well deserved slap to Blanche's hateful grandson.
