- Outlaw gang leader Jude Bonner seeks to force Matt to try and keep his condemned brother from hanging by kidnapping Kitty, brutally abusing and threatening to kill her.
- Matt Dillon apprehends Virgil Bonner and brings him in to stand trial. Bonner is wanted for murder and he is found guilty and sentenced to hang. His older brother, Jude Bonner, leads a band of outlaws known as the Dog Soldiers and he swears to have his revenge if his brother is hung. To back up his threat he takes Miss Kitty hostage and threatens to kill her. Matt must try to get a stay of execution from the Governor in order to save Kitty.—tomtrekp
- This synopsis contains spoilers. Matt has delivered Virgil Bonner to be tried and executed for murder. Virgil's older brother, Jude, and his gang of Dog Soldiers terrorize Dodge City, sending word that Matt will regret it if he cannot persuade the law to release Virgil. Of course, the law does not negotiate with terrorists, so Virgil is hanged. In revenge, Jude Bonner and the Dog Soldiers capture Kitty, rape and beat her, then shoot her in the back as they return her to Dodge City. Matt is so distraught he turns in his badge and sets out to wreak his own merciless vengeance on the outlaws. In a fight to the death with Jude, Matt must wrestle with his sense of duty to the law.
