Maureen McCormick, best known for the BRADY BUNCH, struck out on her own soon after the series ended. This same year she would also appear in a dramatic role on JOE FORRESTER, starring Lloyd Bridges. Maureen is very convincing here, playing a troubled teen, mixed up with drugs and with the terrible luck of witnessing a murder. Now what? She goes into hiding, but its all a game, hence the title of the story. Her concerned mom, played by Claudette Nevins, hires Harry to track her down as the bad guys are playing for keeps. Nevins is in a more sympathetic role here, though she's at her best (in many cop shows) playing ladies with an ulterior motive. We also get a glimpse of future tv star Lani O'Grady, about a year before her show, EIGHT IS ENOUGH. As usual, Harry is up against an assortment of desperate characters, although Trench is always the proverbial thorn in his side. Trench (Anthony Zerbe) reminded me, to a degree, of the same type of character (Malcolm) Ward Wood played on MANNIX, only more insulting. Well written and directed and Richard Lang, who also handled many episodes of KUNG FU.
Recommended stuff. SEASON 1 dvd box set. Shop around as the HARRY O box sets are very expensive, even used, but worth the bucks.
