- Harry Orwell: Lieutenant?
- Lt. K.C. Trench: The men's room is out front, Orwell. Sgt. Roberts, will you please show Mr. Orwell where out front is? The emphasis is on the word "out."
- Harry Orwell: Can I talk to you a minute?
- Lt. K.C. Trench: I gave you five minutes with your client. That does not include a consultation with me.
- Harry Orwell: The birds right out of the trees.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: What's that supposed to mean?
- Harry Orwell: Charm.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: For your information, Orwell, there are people who find me irresistible. On the other hand there are people...
- Harry Orwell: There are people like me.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: Like you?
- Harry Orwell: Who can't find you at all.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: Why don't you file yourself in that category?
- Harry Orwell: Adios.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: Orwell, you have a way of getting involved with some pretty bizarre people.
- Harry Orwell: Ain't that the truth.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: Good morning.
- Sgt. Don Roberts: Good morning, Lieutenant. Oh, Lieutenant, Harry Orwell called.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: I take it back.
- Sgt. Don Roberts: What?
- Lt. K.C. Trench: The good m - never mind.
- Sgt. Don Roberts: He reported a possible homicide.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: A possible homicide? But Orwell isn't sure. He's hedging. The victim appears to be a little bit dead. When did he call?
- Sgt. Don Roberts: Just a few minutes ago.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: Where from?
- Sgt. Don Roberts: Well, he didn't say.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: He didn't say. That's pure Orwell. A possible homicide at an undetermined location.
- Jack Dawes: Betsy said you were a private detective.
- Harry Orwell: A hundred dollars a day and expenses.
- Lt. K.C. Trench: I'd hate to think you were bird dogging me, Orwell.
- Harry Orwell: Only if you're in season.
- Harry Orwell: [voiceover] Sherlock Holmes was a genius. With a little help from the guy who wrote him he could deduce everything. But life is not as kind to detectives as A. Conan Doyle.
