- TriviaAt the end Carter recites, "Neither rain or snow or gloom of night..." which is generally believed to be the official motto of the US Postal Service. Actually, an architect of the 1914 New York City Post Office was the son of a scholar of ancient Greek literature. He decided on his own to have an English translation of a classic quote carved over the main entrance. "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." is a line from 'The Persian Wars' written by Herodotus about 500BC.
- GoofsHogan's men including LeBeau give Hogan their watches to prepare the bait against the Gestapo black marketeer. Later at the Hofbrau, soon after Hogan shows the watches on his wrist, LeBeau is seen checking his watch before turning on the Hofbrau's side door outdoor light. Update: LeBeau is sitting right behind Hogan as Hogan makes his blackmail play on Kiegel. Hogan leaves the Hofbrau alone. LeBeau does eventually go to the back of the Hofbrau to turn the light on. As Hogan would have had to pass LeBeau on the way out of the Hofbrau, it is entirely possible (and probable) that Hogan would have dropped LeBeau's watch off to him as he passed by.
- Quotes
Col. Robert E. Hogan: [Schultz tells about his evening] Don't just stand there, Schultz. Come on, tell us about it.
Sgt. Hans Georg Schultz: Well, she let me kiss her - affectionately, you know?
Col. Robert E. Hogan: You, uh, put your arms around her?
Sgt. Hans Georg Schultz: What do you think? I sent her the kiss by mail?
Col. Robert E. Hogan: And I suppose, uh, she put her arms around you?
Sgt. Hans Georg Schultz: You said it, big boy.
Cpl. Peter Newkirk: All the way around? She must be an orangutan.
Hogan has to find a way to stop the orders even if it means going to the beer hall and confront the agent personally. Hogan and his gang will do nearly anything to keep the lovable Schultz around.
There was one thing that bothered me about this episode-- it was the fact that Schultz is married. He has talked about his wife many times throughout the years. Yet he is out getting kisses from a barmaid and tells everyone about the new woman in his life. But I guess, for TV sake, it can be overlooked since they needed the relationship for the story. Nothing is really remarkable about this episode but one that was at least watchable.
