Schultz answers the phone and says that the General's car just came through the main gate. He and Klink then talk for a minute or so then the shot switches to outside showing the car just coming through the gate.
When Schultz is doing the roll call (with Carter and Newkirk missing), he has a small clipboard with him. During the count, when Schultz and Hogan are talking about the arrival of General von Schlomm, Hogan says, "Mmm, might make Captain for that." Schultz looks off into the distance and says, "Captain." Hogan responds with, "At least." Note that Schultz has his right hand down at his side, and the clipboard close to his chest. At this point, the view shifts to the other side (from their right side to their left side), and Schultz's right hand is now up and poised above the clipboard.
General von Schlomm's staff car has the steering wheel on the right. German vehicles have the steering wheel on the left.
After the real General von Schlomm drives through the gates and stops, there is a cut to Hogan arriving in the tunnel, where Crittendon (as Lord Chitterly) is standing, facing Carter (dressed as the General) and the 'real' Lord Chitterly (an obvious double facing away from the camera). After Hogan announces that the real General has arrived, and tells Crittendon that he better get up there, Crittendon replies with, "This is most irregular," and heads for the ladder. The 'real' Crittendon (with back to the camera, which is shooting over his right shoulder) says, "And shocking bad form," while turning his head to the left. However, when the 'real' Crittendon says those words, his jaw/chin never moves, indicating he never spoke at that point. Immediately after the line, there is a cut to a front shot of the 'real' Crittendon (Bernard Fox - who has replaced the double) saying, "Bad form all 'round."
When Carter impersonates General von Schlomm, he enters Klink's quarters through the tunnel under the stove. When Hogan goes back down the tunnel, Carter closes the heater by pushing it - all the while it is glowing orange with heat. Later (in Part 2), when Chitterly and Hochstetter try to open the stove, they burn their hands. Note also that Carter is wearing a pair of gloves while impersonating the General; however, the gloves would never have protected his hands from the heat. In fact, the gloves would probably have been damaged due to the heat of the stove, yet there was no sign of damage to the gloves.
There were heavy shadows on the wall in Klink's office from the production lights in several scenes.
At the start of the introduction, a small plane loses its engine and crashes. This occurs at night, yet the gang is able to track where the plane would crash, and also see the parachute. When the view shifts to the guards running out of camp, and then to the emergency tunnel opening outside the camp, it is full dark. The first part of the introduction was obviously shot during the day, using what is supposedly a day-for-night filter, though, in this case, it was not very effective.
After the real General von Schlomm arrives, when he, his aide, and Klink enter Klink's quarters, they go through the door and turn left. The red/gold patterned curtain is visible through the door, and it is closed. When the view cuts to inside Klink's quarters, looking at the foyer, the door is visible behind the curtain. If the General, his aide, and Klink had entered as shown from the outside, the entire foyer (door, curtain and the space between) would be rotated 90 degrees, with the door to the right, and the curtain to the left in the view from inside Klink's quarters.
When the real General von Schlomm arrives, and no one meets him after he exits his car, he tells his driver to sound the horn. At this point, just before and just after he actually sounds the horn there are film glitches on the right side of the frame. After Klink comes out to meet the General, there are five more glitches on the left side and/or bottom of the frame.
There were reflections in Klink's monocle from production lights in several scenes.
Since Klink and Schultz had met Colonel Crittendon in the past, it is surprising that they did not immediately suspect that Lord Chitterly was actually Crittendon trying to do something nefarious, such as assassinate Hitler, and throw him into the cooler.
General von Schlomm talks on the telephone to Hitler in English. Hitler did not speak or understand English.
Lady Chitterly is married to Sir Charles Chitterly, but does not wear a wedding ring.
