The Royal Air Force does not have the rank of Colonel - Crittendon should have been more correctly referred to as a Group Captain.

Hogan protests to his superiors in London about Col. Crittendon: "He's the most incompetent colonel in the whole British Army!" But he is in fact, and Hogan would know it, not in the Army, but the Royal Air Force.
Carter and Hogan are dressed in German uniforms to take Crittendon with them. When Crittendon says farewell to the troops he is leaving, he salutes them. However, Crittendon does not salute the "British way" with the palm facing forward.
After the group leaves the meeting at the bar, the scene fades to a night view of their camp. As the camera pans up from the fire, Carter is sleeping close to the fire with the dynamite by his head and detonator box (ready to go) right beside him. There is no way a sane person would sleep that close to the fire with the dynamite. All it would take is a stray spark to detonate the dynamite and destroy everything.
