- General Sheridan: [to Zeb] Now you listen to me. I would rather kiss the backside of a barbary ape than come to a hardnose like you for help.
- Kenyon: [pulling a knife on Zeb] You just made a big mistake, mister.
- Zeb Macahan: [holding his bowie knife in defence] Yours was coming in here.
- Marie Revard: [cocking a rifle that's aimed at Kenyon] It would give me the greatest of pleasure to blow your head off, monsieur.
- Laura Macahan: Why is it that every time a good looking man comes around here I am a mess?
- Jessie Macahan: Two good looking men.
- Louis Riel: It's sad, is it not, that in order to have that which should be the meanest man's birthright, freedom... we have to make an enemy of others. Kill or be killed.
- [takes a moment to look at Marie]
- Louis Riel: But whenever that thought begins to make me drown in grief, I lay it beside your name, and suddenly the world is a brighter place.
- Marie Revard: [sighs] You are teasing me.
- Louis Riel: No. Do you not know by now that you cut a shape upon the air that will be my scar?
- Zeb Macahan: Now them's were real glory days. Use to call them 'the shining times'.
- Marie Revard: You miss those days?
- Zeb Macahan: No, I never miss nothin' in the past.
- Marie Revard: Nothing behind you? Not even a love affair?
- Zeb Macahan: Marie, did anybody ever tell ya you ask too many questions?
- Marie Revard: [giggles] It is the right of every woman to be curious.
