- Giuseppe: [while shining Lucy's shoes, Giuseppe notices she is upset] Why you cry, signora?
- Lucy Ricardo: Well, I'm lonesome for my little boy back in America. It's his birthday today, and I'm just lonesome for him.
- Giuseppe: Ahhh, I'm-a sorry.
- Lucy Ricardo: Y'know, he looks something like you.
- [she shows him a picture]
- Giuseppe: Si.
- Lucy Ricardo: Of course, he's much younger.
- Giuseppe: I use-a to be younger.
- Lucy Ricardo: My little boy'll be three years old today.
- Giuseppe: Hey, you wanna know sump-a-thing? Today, she's-a my birthday, too.
- Lucy Ricardo: It is?... Well, how old are you?
- Giuseppe: Eight and a half... I mean-a, nine. I forget!
- Fred Mertz: [nobody in the run-down hotel answers when Fred rings at the desk] Where is everybody?
- Ethel Mertz: Even the owner won't stay around this old trap.
- Fred Mertz: Now just a minute. It may be a little old, but it's cheap.
- Ethel Mertz: Well, that makes two of ya.
- Ricky Ricardo: [the international telephone operator doesn't understand what Lucy wants, so Ricky takes over] Didn't have any trouble understandin' me.
- Lucy Ricardo: Just my luck. I had to get an operator in Italy who studied English in Cuba.
- Ethel Mertz: [on arrival in Florence] Fred, are you sure this is the right hotel?
- Fred Mertz: Well, the sign said Hotel Grande.
- Lucy Ricardo: Well, it is kind of picturesque.
- Ethel Mertz: Why did you bring us to this picturesque dump?
