The Angola Brights
Prismark1015 March 2021
Alfred Burke plays cunning Dutch mining engineer Martin Becker. He sets off an explosion at a diamond mine in Angola so he can escape with some rough diamonds.

As Angola is an Interpol country. Inspector Duval is on the case. Becker though has navigated a route to non Interpol countries, he has ended up in South Africa where he has invited bids for the diamonds.

Duval approaches a respected gem dealer to buy them. After the exchange of money for the diamonds. Duval need to stall Becker to leave the country until they can confirm that the diamonds are Angolan in origin.

Rupert Davies plays a South African liaison. Although the South African police are powerless as Becker has broken no laws. Duval has to use a bit of guile and deception to lure Becker into a trap.

Of course this is South Africa we are talking about. Their police force were not known for respecting the rule of law. All Duval had to do is let it be known that Becker is a coloured guy who had stolen diamonds. He would had never made it to a court of law alive.

A good performance from Burke. He plays it cool but loses his rag as he loses time to make his escape.
