In the first draft, Michael and K.I.T.T. were less than enthusiastic about going to the circus. In the completed episode, Michael loves the circus tradition.
Earliest drafts included a pyrotechnician by the name of Wayne Foley, an expert in fire and bombs. He was eventually written out, and his contributions to the story were given to Tiger.
There is a scene in this episode where Michael tells Terry Major that they both live with danger in their lives so much, if they were to stop and think about it they probably wouldn't be able to go on. This scenario is explored in the later episode THE SCENT OF ROSES.
James Callahan previously appeared in the episode GOOD DAY AT WHITE ROCK. Tom Williams would appear again in the fourth season's KNIGHT RACER.
This episode is similar to the first season's SLAMMIN' SAMMY'S STUNT SHOW SPECTACULAR; both stories see Michael and K.I.T.T. taking part in stunt shows, and making a success of an ailing business in the process.
