Nikita's brainwashing continues and she becomes a ruthless, heartless operative. She blows up an entire embassy during a mission, killing 16 people. The tables have turned as Michael saves the children inside the embassy by starting off the fire alarm before the explosion. He confronts Nikita, who confesses that Section 1 keeps her under very close surveillance and that indeed they have done something to her. They share a brief tender moment. She then relates the whole discussion to Madeleine and Operations and we understand that she's completely under their control and only fakes her emotions for those around her to gain their trust. Of course Michael cannot be fooled that easily and finds out from Birkoff about the Gelman project. He secretly meets Gelman, who gives him the name of the first subject to this treatment, before being killed by a sniper. Michael knows now too much and Operations orders his cancellation.
