Cut out for law enforcement
bkoganbing12 April 2017
Semi-regular Stuart Randall who played sheriff Mort Cory on a number of Laramie episodes is out of town. Filling in as sheriff is Robert Fuller and he has young Ben Cooper who is Randall's nephew and wannabe law enforcement.

A couple of rough characters show up in town played by DeForest Kelley and Richard Devon who may or may not be robbers that they've received word about. Cooper is eager and inexperienced and inpatient with Fuller for not moving on them. He has to learn that one acts when there is proof. Cooper's wife Carole Wells is concerned that law enforcement might not be the field her husband is cut out for.

A couple of other performances of note. Gail Kobe as a saloon entertainer whom Devon and Kelley have an interest in and Jack Elam who portrays an Otis Campbell like prisoner with the garb of a parson. He proves handy in the end as do his unique jail privileges.

This was one of Jack Elam's early more comedic roles and worth seeing this Laramie episode because of that.
