Lenny and Squiggy and Laverne and Shirley tell two sides of their story only one was true. Take a guess who lied.

Warning: Spoilers
While driving out to California from Milwaukee, Laverne & Shirley and Lenny & Squiggy get low on funds and have to share a motel room for the night and wind up trashing it, owing $158 in damages and the owner has tracked them down in Burbank to claim the money.

What transpires next is the girls and the guys telling their versions of how the room got trashed. The girls version shows Lenny & Squiggy trying to rape (yes rape) the girls when they get inside the motel room.

It's really disturbing to watch because both men are attacking and scaring the hell out of the women with furniture and windows getting broken in the process. Neither man will take no for an answer and the room gets completely trashed while the fearful girls frantically try to protect themselves.

This was actually considered comedy in 1981 but it plays horrifically in 2021. (down vote me I don't care because it's true!) Lenny & Squiggy have known the girls for years, so why on earth would they attempt to sexually force themselves on them like this out of the blue?! Just because they're sharing a motel room? You wonder what's wrong with them to act this way. Grown men do not act this way, especially towards their friends.

Speaking of friendship, it's incredible that the girls remained friends with them after this and just shows how sick and disturbing comedy writing was 40 years ago. Shirley is so scared at one point, she even tries to call the police during the tussle and Squiggy tosses the phone out the window. This is supposed to be comedy!

And the guy's version of the story is reversed and has the girls trying to rape them. It turns out that the girl's version of the story was indeed the correct one (obviously). This entire episode was so cringy, unfunny and disturbing. Hands down the worst of the series for me.

Also, when telling the stories Laverne had to stay off to the side of the stage sitting on the stairs and away from the rest of the cast because she had a cold, which was weird because it had no impact on the story. I guess Penny Marshall had a cold herself when they filmed the episode.

The further I go into this series, the more I question why I continue watching. I don't remember it being this bad, but after getting this far into it, i'm determined to finish it to the end. I'm just hoping to find an episode that I can actually laugh out loud at and rate higher than a 5.

I feel the early seasons were far better than these later ones. There's an episode where the girls threw pies on a game show that had me rolling on the sofa in stitches laughing. I'm hoping in desperation to see funny episodes like that again but each time I pop the dvd back in, it's another let down, but I will soldier on to the bitter end of this show.
