The last episode with Shirley. I like the concept focused on Laverne and Shirley doing their usual silly gags, this time, they get hypnotized. Their chicken impersonations are good. I can't believe the window furniture of the future Does look like today's furniture. I can't help but wonder the beeping techno sound everytime they order food, if it's the same sound effects from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It sounds the same. Who knows. Anyway, our last Laverne and Shirley duel.

Shirley's swan song
I had forgotten there was another episode with Shirley after the wedding. The whole hypnosis and acting like chickens was silly and dumb. I didn't laugh once because it just came off amateurish and stupid.

I'll just jump to the last minute when Shirley gets the phone call and gasps "He died?!" I had completely forgotten about this or maybe I never even saw it because it shocked me when Shirley announced her pregnancy to Laverne. I guess they intended to have her pregnancy be the story for the eighth season which would've been fun to see.

But after this Shirley is gone so either they gave her the boot or she quit on her own. A little Googling shows that she quit but still sued the studio for 20 million afterwards, so it was probably a little of both at play.

Who knows what happened and I personally don't care. All I know is that it ruined the series because my memory of that 8th season is abysmal, but i'm going to watch it again with an open mind.

My personal opinion is that Penny Marshall was the more talented (and funnier) of the duo so hopefully i'll enjoy it and won't view it now as the train wreck that's in my memory.

I just wish they had kept both girls to the end of the series. If I had written it, i'd have Shirley and Walter move in upstairs from Laverne and the whole 8th season could've been Shirley's pregnancy while Laverne meets and dates the man she would marry in the series finale.

Shirley would go into labor and give birth at the alter immediately after Laverne says "I do" to her husband. Oh the hilarity that would ensue!! I can actually picture the whole scene playing out. And this way both of their dreams would come true by the end, except for only one of them.

Well, it's onto "The Laverne Show" now....or as it was titled in 1982 "Laverne & Company". I will try and keep an open mind, but it just won't be the same without Laverne's best buddy.
