This episode appears to be based on two separate cases/incidents:
- The Benjamin O'Garro case.
- The real-life cases of young children hit by stray bullets, which was fairly common at that time in many larger U.S. cities, such as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Merwin Goldsmith plays Trial Judge Gollub in this episode. He later goes on to play the part of Judge Ian Feist in eleven further episodes.

This is the second ever acting role for Merlin Santana who was fourteen years old here. He began acting this same year.
