On a beautiful Saturday, Ward is dismayed to learn that the boys have gone to the movies for the entire afternoon instead of playing outside. Rather than have the boys spend yet another Saturday next week going to the movies as they probably would left to their own devices, Ward decides to take them to Friends Lake for an overnight camping and fishing trip. The boys are excited about the trip. At the eleventh hour, Ward learns that he has to work over the weekend, meaning that he will have to postpone the trip. Instead, the boys decide they will recreate what would have been the trip in their back yard by pitching a tent there and cooking their own dinner and breakfast. As the day turns to night and as the clear skies turn to rain, the boys are determined to stay outside for the entire night. But a sly move by Ward shows the boys how much he really does care for them.
