Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaDr. Smith tells Will he won't be able to vote until he's 21. While that was true at the time the show was filmed it wasn't true for the time the show took place in. At the time of production no one could have known that in 1971 the 26th Amendment would pass and lower the voting age to 18.
- GoofsWhen the 2 male aliens are coming down the elevator in the Jupiter 2, Will looks out from his bedroom doorway. He appears to be looking straight out of his doorway at them, but the elevator is on the same wall as his bedroom, so he couldn't have been looking at them from that vantage point.

Dr. Zachary Smith: [after Non hits Smith in the head with her shuttlecock] Oh, I am so sorry. How stupid of me to allow my head to dent your dainty little shuttlecock.

"Your mattress is as lumpy as your oatmeal!
Memories of growing up on Landford Drive in the early 70's. A typical afternoon just before dinner watching Re-runs of Lost in Space in my paneled clad basement. My sister Lori and I were staunch viewers of the program. Producer and creator Irwin Allen took what was originally a serious space drama and through time flipped into a hilarious sci-fi comedy with Dr. Smith as the centerpiece of one hour space odyssey of pandemonium. This episode typifies the formula for most of that series. Two Weeks In Space has our serious main characters John Robinson (Guy Williams) commander of the Jupiter 2 and patriarch of the space expedition. Accompanied by Major Don West (Mark Goddard) the second in command who has a disdain for Dr. Smith and eyes for the eldest daughter Judy Robinson.. The charming and affable Mrs. Maureen Robinson is played by June Lockhart and her aforementioned eldest daughter Judy who for most of the series is basically filler and never the main focus in an episode except a few is portrayed by Marta Kristin. Penny Robinson the Middle child is played by Angela Cartwright growing into womanhood before our very eyes and a conduit between the two groups. Here's where the split takes place. The comical players in this group are the flowery effeminate devious Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) who always fouls things up for the crew whether making bad deals with aliens or loafing and resisting chores. The running excuses from Smith complaining of a bad back or passing the blame to others which boils over to his nemesis and adversary Don West. Speaking about blame, the stout and perky Robot with a lighted bubble top operated inside by Don May and the voice provided by Dick Tufeld. The constant bickering among-st the two, Man vs Machine, Smith would call him ninny and other adjectives. Thirdly and finally the straight man or young adult Will Robinson (Billy Mumy) who is honest and a decent young teen but always gets involved with Smith in one of his schemes. Basically a split in the story line with the two groups. As for our story: The Serious group of characters have to leave to repair their weather station which is located far away from the Jupiter 2 which leaves the less serious trio alone to watch the ship , Smith, Will and Robot meet up with five aliens in Human form looking for shelter in the way of a hotel . Two men and two sexy woman. The fifth wheel of the group is our ever popular Mr. Zumdish played to perfection by Fritz Feld. Toot sweet, Smith gears up into action as he puts a makeshift sign over the spaceship entrance entitled, "Dr. Smith's Happy Acres Hotel". Will and the Robot acts as bellhops lugging equipment all around the grounds as Smith tries to impress his guests. What Smith doesn't know is that he's harboring space criminals who plan on killing their hosts and taking over the ship. Some questions come to mind in this episode. I was amazed that the Jupiter 2 stocked sporting equipment in the way of volleyball nets. I was also curious why Zumdish was there? Dr. Smith showed some hetero sexual behavior as he was flirty with the voluptuous Edy Williams. Just a typical afternoon waiting for a great finish to this episode and my Mom's cooking. Checkout time in my basement is at 6PM, Dinnertime.
