I graduated high school the year this aired so I was too young for them then; but from my current perch 40 years later I don't see a clinker in the cord. Go for it.

Impressive, if typically unusual, Love Boat cast; full of old TV hands, rising stars who never rose, current (as of late 1970s/early 1980s) TV biggies and the washed up who are coasting on their names. But for someone like me, who loves good old movies, the latter are often the most welcome.
This is a superb extra-long episode of its kind. Even the "serious" story (which I normally fast-forward through) isn't too annoying.
