During the scene in the OR, the PA announcer mentions that Ralph Kiner hit his 47th home run which would date this episode as 27 Sep 1950. Kiner played for the Pittsburgh Pirates that season and his 47 home runs led the National League.
This episode's title is German for "The Day", also a play on words for "the tag" which Hawkeye and BJ place on Frank's toe.
When Frank asks for "another lemon squash" he's referencing a British soft drink company named Robinsons which offered a line of fruit flavored drinks including Lemon, Lime, and Orange Squash.
The comic book Radar is seen sleeping with, The Avengers, is about a group of superheroes, one of whom, in the issues shown, is named Hawkeye, the same as one of the main characters in M*A*S*H. However, the comic book in question was published in the 1960s, over ten years after the date given in this episode.
The scene in the officers club when Radar and Kellye are dancing, and Klinger is using whisk brooms as drum fans is reminiscent of the Christmas dance scene in Stalag 17.
