Sidney Strikes Again
Hitchcoc27 March 2015
Once again, the camp is on edge. Potter thinks he is losing control. Coincidentally, Sidney Freedman has been brought in with a head wound. He has been in a foxhole, following up on a kid he had sent back to the front after severe psychological trauma. While he is in camp, he begins to see the people of the 4077th. Charles and Margaret have a feud going over his touching his nose while in surgery. Klinger and Radar both think they are crazy. Sidney is also having a rough time because the boy he sent back despises him for his actions. While all this is going on, Zale and another guy are burning Chinese uniforms because they are infested. Someone gets the idea to build a huge bonfire. This is a nicely done episode. As I've said before, episodes with Dr. Freedman are among the best of all.

Better than many of the 'fluff' episodes....

Gotta like every episode with Sidney... this one goes to the top in my book. Shows what happens when he doesn't 'save' someone and how he takes it. Love the last bit when the FR. Mulcahy arrives for a visit, a well done piece of writing and acting with a role reversal to boot.

Yep, the soldier patient that Sidney worked with is none other than 'Danny Noonan' of Caddyshack fame. I was surprised to see him... seems like everyone came thru PostOp as a nod to their acting accomplishments (or something ! ).

The bonfire is a good idea too, with all cast members tossing something on it. Potter throws his DESK... Henry Blake got his stolen ! Episode covers some ground that was ready for examination, as the writers didn't just mail it in... 'bout time.

Who knows (nose)?

Warning: Spoilers
Winchester is in deep trouble because Margaret claimed he touched in nose in the operating room. How dare Winchester do such a thing?! He's no longer sterile!

Peter Riegert, who soon gained fame in Animal House, fills in for Jeff Maxwell to play Igor. Peter played Igor in this episode and in Change Day, before Jeff returned to the role made for him. Jeff discusses this in episode 28 of his podcast MASH Matters, which he co-hosts with Ryan Patrick.
