The opening scene, in which Reese collects hair from around the bathroom and glues it to his armpits, was inspired by writer Alex Reid's younger brother, who did the same when going to a family friend's pool party.
When the Book Club women go to disrupt the domestic life of their nemesis, Lillian Miller, one of them notes, "Look at that house - it's perfect." The house used for the scene is a Universal Studios back lot Wisteria Lane (Desperate Housewives (2004)) house, also used (before its renovation in 1988 and 1996) as the "new" house for the Cleaver family in Leave It to Beaver (1957) (Seasons 3-6, 1959-63). An interesting choice for the "perfect house".
After the belching & flatulence at dinner, in bed, Lois reads a book entitled: Winds of Ogunquit.
