The Anthrax contest and subsequent house-thrashing is actually based on real events: in 1989 MTV's "Headbangers Ball" held a contest where Anthrax would visit the winner's house. On 23 May 1989, Anthrax did, and they spontaneously thrashed the place, as documented in "Headbangers Ball Uncensored".
A rare opportunity to see Peg Bundy in a dress.
Fred Willard would also have a recurring role on Ed O'Neill's other major sitcom, Modern Family
Joey Belladonna, lead singer of Anthrax from 1984-1992, was fired from the band shortly after their appearance in this episode. Regarding the decision to part ways with Belladonna, Scott Ian said: "By the time we finished the year-and-a-half touring cycle -- 20, 21 months of touring cycle, and then '[Attack Of The] Killer B's' comes out. I think the last thing we did together as a band with Joey was on 'Married With Children'. And then it wasn't long after that when we made the change.
This episode was taped on February 14, 1992.
