Kelly and Bud pool their money and buy a car to share, but problems arise when they both want to use the car on the same day. They solve the problem by both taking their dates to the drive-in at the same time, but this causes further problems.
Meanwhile, Al thinks he is saving money by registering the car as a farm vehicle for insurance purposes, but this requires a chicken to be kept in the car at all times.
Season eight has yet to produce a classic, or even a really good episode, and No Chicken, No Check doesn't change matters. It's a passable time-waster, with a few chucklesome moments, but not nearly enough laugh-out-loud gags to make it stand out.
Al provides the best line: "It's a damn fine company, 'The Farmer's Best Friend' next to a sheep and a tall wheat field." A few more funnies of that calibre and we'd have a real winner on our hands.
