- TriviaAt one point Bart and associates to quickly raise money create a trading stamp program and hype redemption for frivolous merchandise to a boisterous response. This pointedly satirizes trading stamps like S&H Green Stamps that were then popular.

Bart Maverick: [narrating] As my pappy used to say about money, "It's always there, only the pockets change." Well, so it was with Major Sims. His money was going so fast, it didn't even have time to say goodbye to him.

Good Fun
Expertly played episode with more than its share of laughs. Bart wins a bank in a poker game. But why, we wonder, does banker Sims want to lose it. The answer involves Bart in a whole wagon-load of difficulties, more twists and turns than the proverbial stick to shake at. I get the impression the writers were also having fun taking shots at trading stamps (of all things) and highbrow Yale University.
Those boardroom sessions with roughneck Blackjack (deKova) are a real hoot. Add a terminally coy Penelope (Brand), a conniving Doc Holliday (Breck), an equally conniving banker Sims (Owen), and it's near classic Maverick, though you may need a scorecard to keep up with all the twists and turns.
