In the opening scene, a lone horseman, presumably Bret Maverick, seen riding in the barren Wyoming Territory landscape, bears no relationship in looks and outfit to Bret Maverick as he is met at Black Fire Ranch. As Maverick (probably a stand-in) rides into the ranch, the horse he is riding changes from a dark horse with dark tail to a dark horse with flowing white tail and white fetlocks. As James Garner dismounts at the ranch house, the horse is once again dark with dark tail and fetlocks.
The corpse of Cousin Millard can be seen obviously breathing when he is found dead at the dining room table.
Will Wright's character is listed as "General Eakins" in the credits but referred to as "General Gibson" throughout the episode.
James W. Horan's character is listed as "Cousin Pliney" in the credits, but his name is spelled "Pliny" on his wallet.
Bret finds a photo of a man standing and a woman sitting, resulting in about a two foot disparity in the level of their faces. However, photographers almost exclusively had the man sitting and the woman standing so their faces would be nearly at the same level. This also allowed the woman to show off what was undoubtedly her finest outfit.
