Maverick: Burial Ground Of The Gods
jcolyer122921 June 2015
The burial ground of the gods is in the Wauconda Mountains of Wyoming and sacred ground to the Sioux. A scoundrel played by Claude Aikens takes a woman there to look for her husband who is presumed dead. Bart is in pursuit because he was robbed by Aikens. Aiken is a character! His facial expressions and manner of speaking entertain. He throws out lie after lie, trying to gain sympathy with his wide grin. We have another convoluted plot with characters who have secrets and hidden motives. Bart finds the husband in a cave, and they manage to escape the Waconda during a sand storm. I was intrigued by the maid Bart took to dinner. Her real name is Saundra Edwards, and she was the Playboy Playmate of the month for March, 1957 with measurements of 36-20-36. She was also a Las Vegas showgirl.

A really superb Bart Maverick episode
edalweber19 May 2014
This is probably the very best of all of the episodes in which Jack Kelly appears alone. There are two plots, one the search for a man lost in a forbidden region known as The Burial Ground of the Gods, which is sacred to the local Indians, and from which no one who enters is allowed to come out alive. Claude Akins plays a man who mugs Bart to get the money to get to the wife of the missing man, claiming that he can lead her to him.The other plot is Maverick's pursuit of Akins to reclaim his money. Good mixture of exciting action and comedy with Kelly playing off against Akins, who is really funny. They make a great pair reacting with each other. Extremely well done episode showing what a really good actor the much underrated Jack Kelly was.

No good scoundrel
bkoganbing20 August 2018
This Maverick story has Jack Kelly making the acquaintance of Claude Akins, a no good scoundrel of a man who robs him of $1200.00 for a road stake. But Akins has bigger fish to fry.

Jack Kelly trails him to Denver and beyond where Akins for a big reward is leading Nancy Gates and her fiance Robert Lowery into some sacred Indian burial grounds where he says he saw her husband Charles Cooper who is both wanted for murder and believed to be dead. As proof he brings back a college ring.

Akins is a liar and a scoundrel and a conman, the last he's not very good at. He sort of plays things on the fly without really thinking out any plan. Still he's got an infectious charm about him, just make sure your money is secure.

In fact Claude Akins is the main reason for checking out this particular Maverick story.
