"Dade City Dodge" kicked off season 5. Pearly Gates and his girl Marla are at a race track in New Orleans with Bart. Pearly is winning, and Bart is losing. Bart gives Pearly $5000 to place a bet for him, and Pearly splits. Bart's horse finishes last, so far behind that he would have lost the next race. Bart explains that Pearly got his name from the phony tie pin he wears, not from his chances of meeting Saint Peter. Marla explains that she is a Vermont girl and not from the south at all. They end up in Dade City, Texas, where Bart frames Pearly before having an attack of conscience. Kathleen Crowley is Marla. She appeared in 8 episodes.

Like every other maverick episode, this is just another con ... greedy people dreaming of big money ... the three little pigs root snort and belly up for their share of the pie ... ken lynch plays the crooked sheriff instead of an outlaw...
