Warning: Spoilers
Terrific episode in which Bret is mistaken for Foxy Smith (Robert Lowrey, who was the movies second "Batman") the mastermind behind a major robbery that includes all the top guns in the west--Black Bart, Billy the Kid (Joel Grey!), Frank and Jesse James, Cole Younger (Gregory Walcott), Sam Bass (Kelly Thordsen) and Belle Starr (Jean Willes). Bret has to think fast to keep them from discovering he ISN'T Foxy Smith, and when he can't escape, decides he has to plan a robbery for them: knocking over the Denver Mint! Garner is great as always in this and its nice to see him show how his greed (the idea of turning in all these bad guys for $73,000 worth of rewards) overcomes his fear and sense of self-preservation. He also gets a nice scene where he shows off the way he can handle a gun. It's impressive! Walcott is good as is Grey, but my own favorite was Gordon Jones who played the calm Marshall of Denver. Jones played Mike the Cop in the "Abbott and Costello Show" and its nice to see him in a different kind of law enforcement role. Kelly Thordsen doesn't get a lot to do as Sam Bass until the end, but he also appeared on Garner's "Nichols" and "The Rockford Files" years later.

An all star lineup
bkoganbing14 September 2018
This Maverick story has James Garner mistaken for Robert Lowery who is a Dr. Riedenschneider like planner of old west capers. Garner is mistaken for Lowery who after losing to Garner at poker says he's broke and Garner wants that expensive diamond stickpin for collateral. He get it, but when he moves on to Denver he's mistaken for Lowery by that all star lineup of old west outlaws Lowery has gathered for an immense caper.

After this Garner is just playing for time until he can get away from this crew which includes the James Brothers, Cole Younger, Black Bart, Sam Bass, Bob Dalton and Joel Grey as Billy the Kid.

Grey and Jean Willes as Belle Starr stand out in the cast. Garner plays them both like piccolos.

Add Gordon Jones as a suspicious sheriff and you have the ingredients of a great Maverick story.

Maverick: Full House

Bret wins a tie pin in a poker game and is mistaken for a crook named Foxy Smith, who is supposed to pan a job with Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Cole Younger, Sam Bass and Belle Starr. Sexy Jean Willes is Belle. Bret is taken with her, and Younger is jealous. The reward money for the outlaws totals $73,000, and Bret the bounty hunter gets ideas. Belle comes to his room and would like to go to bed with him. She gives him a wet kiss! "Just call me Foxy!" Bret concocts an outrageous plan to take over the Denver Mint. The bad guys actually pull off the robbery, but a posse rounds them up after Bret plays on the Kid's insecurity. He covers for Belle. A full house in poker is of three of a kind with a pair.
