Maverick Solitaire was introduced. Within a few days after airing, nearly every store in the United States sold out of playing cards.
To help prove Maverick's claim that five pat hands can be made from any random twenty-five cards, the entire trick is shown - from shuffle to deal to separating the cards into five hands - in one continuous shot.
This story line is take-off on the film 12 Angry Men that was released in April of 1957. One big difference, though, is that, in the movie, the whole film takes place in the jury room )except the last scene). And the only characters in the film are the members of the Jury.
Tol Avery and Hugh Sanders face off again; coincidentally, another William Reynolds dilemma, in the Maverick episode 'Holiday at Hollow Rock'.
