In this episode the Maverick brothers (James Garner and Jack Kelly) are mistaken as Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday by some townspeople. Years later, James Garner would portray Earp in the 1967 film 'Hour of the Gun' and again in the 1988 film 'Sunset,' and Jack Kelly would portray Doc Holliday in the 1967 episode of High Chaparral entitled, 'Doctor from Dodge'.
Myron Healey playing the role of Jim Mundy, portrayed Doc Holiday in the series The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp." (1958 & 1959)
Each of the brothers is accosted by the same small boy who says that "Mavericks are cattle". This references the origin of the term 'maverick', coined for the cattle rancher who refused to brand his cattle. Bret replies with a pun about Jersey (the US state and a breed of cattle) and Bart with a mention of a guy he knew called Holstein (another breed).
Adele Mara, who plays June, is the wife of series producer Roy Huggins.
Second and final appearance by Gerald Mohr as Doc Holliday. When the character was brought back in Triple Indemnity (1961) it was recast with Peter Breck as Holliday who played him four additional times including in One of Our Trains Is Missing (1962), the series finale.
