- Bret Maverick: [narrating] Well, there weren't any lightning flashes of thunderbolts, so I guess it was all over now. And I was firmly reminding myself of one of the last and most important things my pappy ever told me: "Love your fellow man. And stay out of his troubles... if you can."
- Sheriff: Young man, would you do one thing for me?
- Bret Maverick: Oh, I guess so. What is it?
- Sheriff: Get outta town, will ya? It's really embarrassin' havin' you around.
