Ken Mayer: Sheriff Boyd Tait

Quotes

  • [first lines]

    Sheriff Boyd Tait : Bernie?

[Sheriff sends his Deputy over to check out two strangers, Bret and Waco, going into a 'Cattlemen Only' hotel]

Bret Maverick : [to hotel clerk]  Thank you.

Deputy Bernie : [to Bret and Waco]  You, uh... You boys come far?

Bret Maverick : We had quite a ride. Came through the Brasada.

Deputy Bernie : Oh, see any Indians?

Waco Williams : We got ambushed by half a dozen of 'em. My sidekick got killed.

Bret Maverick : So did the six Indians, courtesy of Mr. Williams.

  • Sheriff Boyd Tait : [Speaking to Waco Williams]  If I tried to bring Karl Bent to trial just because you accused him, this town would blow up all over the territory. You're accusing a cow man of killing a plow pusher, on an identification you made in the dark. Besides, a jury of cattle men would never convict him. A jury of rustlers, they'd hang him for spitting on the sidewalk.
