  Deputy Bernie : [to Bret and Waco]  You, uh... You boys come far?

  Bret Maverick : We had quite a ride. Came through the Brasada.

  Deputy Bernie : Oh, see any Indians?

  Waco Williams : We got ambushed by half a dozen of 'em. My sidekick got killed.

  Bret Maverick : So did the six Indians, courtesy of Mr. Williams.

  Bret Maverick : Well, it's the big pine trees and the thick oaks that get uprooted first. The palm trees are smart. They give with the wind.
