After winning a horse by betting on whether ears of corn have an even number of rows Bart claims all ears have an even number (i.e. the bet was a sure thing). This is accurate.
One of the investors in the bankrupt Gannet Express Co. was played by Louis Quinn. He laments, "My life savings were in that company."; when Bart asks how much, he says "36 dollars." Astute viewers will recognize Quinn from another Warner Bros. series, 77 Sunset Strip (1958), in which he plays Roscoe, an inveterate gambler who rarely bets on the winning horse.
