Quotes
-
Michael Anthony : [Hall enters a hotel lobby and Anthony stops him] Pardon me, sir. You look like an American.
Chris Hall : I am. Can I help you?
Michael Anthony : I don't speak Portuguese very well, and I wonder if you could direct me to the Ochoa plantation?
Chris Hall : Oh, certainly - I work there. Who do you want to see?
Michael Anthony : A man named Hall, Christopher Hall.
Chris Hall : I'm Christopher Hall. What can I do for you?
Michael Anthony : [the scene shifts to a room at the hotel, a few minutes later] Whew!
[Wiping his brow with a handkerchief]
Michael Anthony : It's been no fun looking for you in this heat.
Chris Hall : It must be important.
Michael Anthony : It is.
[Opens his briefcase]
Michael Anthony : A matter of a million dollars, all yours and tax-free.
Chris Hall : Are you sure you're feeling all right in this heat, Mister... Mister...?
Michael Anthony : Anthony is the name.
[Displaying check]
Michael Anthony : Take a look at this check.
Chris Hall : [Reading the check] A cashier's check for a million bucks. Who'd want to give me a million dollars?
Michael Anthony : I'm not at liberty to say.
Chris Hall : [Getting perturbed] Is this some kind of a joke? This isn't funny, Mr. Anthony.
Michael Anthony : [Responding likewise] Mr. Hall, do you think I'd fly 6,000 miles and tramp through the jungle in this tropical heat just to perpetrate a hoax?
Chris Hall : What's the catch?
Michael Anthony : [Displaying a document] Just sign this simple form. It pledges you never to reveal the source or the amount of this gift; otherwise, the donor has the right to reclaim it.
[Hall signs the agreement]
