  James Phelps : Really? Yes, perhaps, in a way. Our organization Is currently engaged In achieving Industrial control of the United States.

  Gunnar Malstrom : Just like that?

  James Phelps : We already control the gold through our European and Asian groups. We've placed politicians, bought unions, managed control of several financial combines, and now we face trouble. Why? Because Pendulum is creating such a disturbance the government is investigating every possible threat, including us. Yes, you have power, Mr. Malstrom -- The power to cause difficulty.

  Gunnar Malstrom : We have our own plans.

  James Phelps : Yes. Stupid. This latest thing -- Nightfall, Military Assassination, General Weston -- Absolute madness.

  Gunnar Malstrom : Only our counsel knows about that.

  James Phelps : Don't be naive. We know a great deal.

  Gunnar Malstrom : Our leader insists on strict security.

  James Phelps : Your leader? Ah, yes, your leader. How would you describe him?

  Gunnar Malstrom : Arrogant, egotistical.

  James Phelps : And incompetent. Let me be explicit, Mr. Malstrom. We want Pendulum. We do not want your leader. We want you to take over control of our total operation in this hemisphere.

  Gunnar Malstrom : Why should I? I overheard your threats to kill me, but if you do, Pendulum will know about it.

  James Phelps : We never kill except for profit. We want you to control Pendulum for us.

  Gunnar Malstrom : The leader? We will eliminate him for a price. You will join us. You will call off Nightfall. No. I can't call off Nightfall. It's too far along. Anyway, i don't buy all of this. At least, Not without more proof. If I even tried To cross Pendulum, I'd be a dead man. How do i know You'd protect me? Very well. You may have time to think the matter over, but not very much. By tomorrow morning, You will be with us, Or you will be dead.
