- TriviaThough the reason given for using a horse is being their weight is 'equivelant to 5 men' (which is true; the avg.-sized horse weighs 1100lb., which would be equivelant to appx. 5 men), this episode was written/aired before space travel had become more well-known, and the reality of putting a horse in orbit - for any reason - would be highly prohibitive (due to their size, the required capsule-size, and fuel requirements, which would be exorbitant - that's why monkeys and Laika, the dog went).

Horse in Space
When a business associate is discouraged seeing that Wilbur (Alan Young) works in his barn, he decides to take an office downtown. Worried about losing a contract, Addison (Larry Keating) helpfully approves, but "Ed" (voiced by Allan Lane) is tear-stricken. Wilbur spends his days at the office and his nights with wife Carol (Connie Hines). Too lonely to continue without Wilbur's companionship, Ed volunteers to be the first horse launched into outer space. It's an experimental, presumably one-way trip. But in the end, eating like a horse could get Ed out of a jam...
