The second of a two part episode, discontinues where we left off with Bill and Avery Brown (Darren McGavin and Colleen Dewhurst) pretending to be nice with each other, but Murphy's upset because it all seems like it's phony. She fears the eruption will occur at her award ceremony, and if it's not there bickering, it's the fact that Murphy is now stuck caring for her baby brother since Karen has had to leave all of a sudden. All it takes is one moment alone for Avery and Bill to start reflecting on past memories and their romantic past momentarily takes over their thoughts. Perhaps the 15 years that they've been apart has soothed that anger, and Murphy for one night at least get something that she never thought she'd have again: her parents together all to herself.
