STEVE FINALLY, FINALLY GETS MARRIED.
tcchelsey10 April 2024
For all us long time fans, yes, it took 10 years for Steve to tie the proverbial knot. You have to admit, Fred MacMurray made tv history as one of the very few widowers and fathers and most eligible bachelors. TV history in the making.

This was a famous episode, more than likely in the Top 10. The series, at the time, ranked at Number 15, tied with IRONSIDE, which was fairly decent for a show running an entire decade.

Writer George Tibbles naturally throws in some goofy bits; Steve and the gang recalling all the chaos in the house just before Robbie's wedding a few years earlier. This time it's going to be done right. Accordingly, everyone gets up EXTRA early to get dressed! -- then they all go back to bed to catch a quick snooze???

An outrageous story if there ever was one!

Terrific support from Naomi Stevens as Mama Rossini, Steve and Barbara's adopted mother, also Maurice Manson as the reverend and famous violinist and singer Aladdin, playing Cesare. If you're a western buff, look quick for famous stuntman George DeNormand as one of the wedding guests. DeNormand was a legendary stuntman, associated with such screen cowboys as Johnny Mack Brown, later retiring and doing bit roles for years. This was one of his last tv appearances.

A memorable episode, and Steve and Barbara do make a handsome couple. I think if Fred MacMurray and Beverly Garland were not married in real life, they would have gotten together. That was always the talk back in the day. Beverly Garland did cherish the memories, placing a large color portrait of her tv family in her hotel in North Hollywood for tourists.

I will never forget that picture, along with many original posters from her films. Classic Hollywood.

Next stop MEXICO. Stay tuned for the honeymoon!

SEASON 10 EPISODE 8 remastered/color.
