Pretty good episode, all about another one of those influential ladies Steve meets up with, in this case socialite Maggie Bellini (well played by Dana Wynter).
Maggie is so rich, she promises Steve she will match all the money being poured into the new arts center.
Is there also a little romance out there? Steve and Maggie begin to attract headlines as they are seen dining out together --actually business dinners--but its good PR for the Douglas family.
Here's the thing. Maggie literally showers the gang with all sorts of amenities; Uncle Charley is chauffered back and forth to the market in a limousine, a butler is now employed in the house ---but BEST of it all is Robbie's custom-made yellow tiger striped Pontiac GTO! Amazing.
Check out this set of wheels. This was a promotion model, showcasing Pontiac's tiger striped car campaign, which lasted a few years. It was fun stuff and there were many way cool models. Some of those cars are still around today, and looking just as sharp. Note the gag with Robbie's car; a long fuzzy, brown tiger tail hanging from the trunk. So 60s.
Do Maggie's plans all work out? Stay tuned.
Dana Wynter is always a treat to watch, a wonderful actress. Well written by Bill O'Holleran, who later did many episodes for THE MOTHERS IN LAW sitcom, produced by Desi Arnez.
You have to admit, this was a very clever sales campaign launched by Pontiac who sponsored the show.
From SEASON 6 EPISODE 17 remastered color.
